Board of Directors

Butch Spyridon has served as president and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp (CVC) since 1991. Under his leadership, Nashville has evolved into a year-round destination for meetings and leisure visitors and has grown to become the city’s second largest industry with annual visitor spending exceeding $5.5 billion.

Spyridon has guided the industry through many challenging times. With each challenge, the industry has seized the opportunity to assess and strategically plan for the future. As a result, Nashville has emerged from each setback better and stronger as a destination. The city is currently enjoying record levels of hotel demand and hotel tax collections (62 months and counting).

Over the past 20 years the CVC has led the strategic development of Nashville’s emergence as a premiere travel destination and been involved with major projects like the Tennessee Titans, Bridgestone Arena, the Nashville Predators and, most recently, the state-of-the-art Music City Center which more than triples the downtown convention space.

In addition, the CVC also initiated a comprehensive city-wide branding campaign, produces the nationally ranked July 4th celebration as well as the city’s New Year’s Eve celebration and created the Music City Walk of Fame. All while selling over one million hotel room nights a year for the city.

Raised in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Spyridon graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Business Administration, and is a graduate of the Institute of Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University.
